I was hoping for a few clouds and a bit more colour but it’s one of the few days of the year when I can get this shot down the rails here in Troy. Hard to believe it is December 23rd and it was in the upper 60s today. Guess I have to enjoy it while I can.
I hadn’t been to Cahokia Mounds in a while but I wanted a change of pace from shooting birds so I went looking for deer. There is a herd of 200+ in the park. They are safe there and are pretty used to people walking the trails. This buck was keeping an eye on me as I took his photo and eventually moved off to put a bit of distance between us.
The Arch was supposed to be lit up gold tonight in honor of the 50th birthday but the lights weren’t on yet when I had to leave. It was still a beautiful evening and I was able to get a few shots. This photo was taken at the Malcom Martin Memorial Overlook in East St. Louis.

Yesterday I led the Kelby Worldwide Photowalk in Alton Illinois. We had a great turnout and so far I’ve seen a lot of wonderful photos. Here is shot of the group just before we went out and invaded the town.
