Made my first trip up to Clarksville and Louisiana Missouri today with some friends in search of Bald Eagles. While it wasn’t the best eagle day ever I did manage to get a few shots. Here is one of the best ones.
Took the day off to witness the demolition of the east bound span of the Chain of Rocks Canal bridge near Granite City today. Got there early and found a good spot on the bridge to get some photos, along with a couple hundred other people. There weren’t as many photographers there as I was expecting but none the less it was worth taking the day off to watch it.
It’s that time of year when the Bald Eagles congregate along the Mississippi River between Alton and Grafton. This one was just sitting in the tree along the highway. Pulled over and got some shots. We drove up farther north and about an hour later came back by and it was still there. Lots of cars pulled over taking a look.
As much as I enjoy hawks and being able to get some shots like this in the backyard I wish this hawk would go away. We don’t get any little birds in the backyard anymore as this one is always hunting them. We used to go through sacks and sacks of bird food during the winter but not anymore. The feeder on the side of the house hasn’t been touched in over a week.
